With a joke and her face almost
Cracks into a smile. What do
They know that we don't?
What does the psychoanalyst's
Grandson see beneath the play
Of light, the Queen Face, Queen
For a day or - hard to imagine-
A dress-up that lasts sixty years.
It's hard to tell if the diamond
tiara in this portrait is real, but
he shows us the lady is real.
She gets the joke. At the end
Of the day, Queens and painters
Lie side by side in the ground.
